Helicobacter Pylori testing can be performed to support a diagnosis of Helicobacter Pylori infection or to find out if your treatment for the Helicobacter Pylori infection was successful. A Helicobacter Pylori stool antigen test checks your stool (feces) for Helicobacter Pylori antigens. These are substances that trigger the immune system to fight the infection.
It is recommended that Helicobacter Pylori testing is performed by having biopsies taken during an endoscopy (camera test), having a stool antigen test performed, or a urea breath test(1).
Serology (blood) test is not recommended to diagnose eradication of the Helicobacter Pylori infection as antibiodies to the infection can remain in your system for a long time(2).
